2009 Edinburgh International Television Festival

I see from the The Guardian of the 1st of September  that Elaine Bedell, currently with the BBC controller of entertainment commissioning shows like Strictly Come Dancing, Top Gear and The Apprentice, but at one time managing director of Watchmaker, the independent production company she set up she with Clive James and Richard Drewett, is to oversee the development of the 2009 MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival programme as the event’s new advisory committee chair.

The Endemol UK chief executive, Tim Hincks, MGEITF executive committee chairman, said: “The television festival is the premier multimedia event of the year which provokes, stimulates and entertains in equal measure. Elaine will make an exceptional advisory chair.”

Bedell added: “I am very pleased to have been invited to chair next year’s festival. Andrew MacKenzie produced a great, feel-good festival this year, and I am looking forward to working with the committee to create some equally compelling and entertaining sessions next year.”
